FAMILY-OWNED AND OPERATED
A message from Susan Donovan:
Our story began in 2012 when my 16-year-old daughter Katie was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Achalasia — a rare swallowing disorder.
Through three years of ongoing treatment, procedures and several surgeries, symptoms continued to return — forcing her onto a liquid diet until she hit the end stage of the disease, requiring an esophagectomy with gastric pull-up in 2016 when she was only 20.
Between 2016 and 2020, Katie focused on her recovery, although she continues to struggle with keeping solid foods down. She longed for her favorite desserts, so we set out on a mission to create the perfect bite sized treat. She had been spending her good days during recovery in the kitchen baking up all sorts of high-end pastries even though she was barely eating. She would give them away to friends & family, and the feedback she would receive was so encouraging. Eventually, her self taught Culinary Journey led to working with Chocolate. It was love at first temper! The whole Family instantly fell in love with making people happy with our small confectionery creations.
Our goal was to pack as much flavor as we could into a one to two bite treat that she could consume. A whole plated dessert is out of the question with her new anatomy, but a small flavor-packed treat is just right! The result was layered Bonbons! Essentially creating a gourmet chocolate shell made from high quality imported chocolate and filling the inside with various desserts represented in multiple layers. Our chocolates are hand painted with tempered cocoa butter to produce glossy, shiny works of art in vibrant colors that are visually attractive and extremely flavorful. Once you try them, you will agree, they taste even better than they look!
What started out as selling to friends and family on social media quickly grew, and we were able to open our store in July 2023. Thank you for being here with us and for supporting our Family and Kate’s dream. She still has her limitations and faces health struggles every day but making you all happy with our treats keeps her going! Come stop in & say hello to the Family!
Thank You
A Message From Kate:
Take time to enjoy the foods you love! You never know if tomorrow you will wake up unable to swallow. Enjoy treats (in moderation) while you can and celebrate flavor, textures, and unique bites wherever possible. I’m truly grateful to every person who comes in and supports our dream. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospital beds or home recovering from dozens of surgeries over the years constantly asking myself…why? I’ll never know why my health deteriorated the way it did, but what I do know is that without that I wouldn’t have developed the passion & love I now have for food. It would be so easy for me to hate food due to the trauma I have with eating, but I view it as something we should celebrate now more than ever. Every successful swallow is a gift, and something we should all be grateful for. And being able to provide a memorable bite for others is what I strive for. Food is such a love language and being a part of so many of your acts of love (gifting or receiving our chocolates) means the WORLD to us. Thank you for your support!
